Since 1972 banks and other financial institutions - foreign owned, but domiciled in Switzerland - are organised in the Association of Foreign Banks in Switzerland AFBS. It represent its members towards the Federal Administration, the Swiss Bankers' Association and other stakeholders of the financial centre. It informs its members on regulatory developments in financial market matters and fosters discussion among members.

The long-standing Secretary General Martin Maurer will retire at the end of this year. The Board nominates Raoul Würgler, currently Deputy Secretary General, to succeed him as of January 2020. Furthermore, the General Assembly of the Association of Foreign Banks in Switzerland elects six new Board Members and re-elects two auditors. It acknowledges the nomination of Heinrich Henckel as Chairman and Alexander Classen as second Vice-Chairman. Adrian Nösberger remains first Vice-Chairman. The Media Release is available here:

27.9.2018 Following the retirement of Kristine Braden from the AFBS Board announced on 5.9., the Vice Chairmen, together with the Secretariat, agreed to allocate more time to the nomination process and leave the Presidency vacant for the moment. As an interim arrangement they will assure a smooth running of the Association. Also they will identify new candidates for the Board.
5.9.2018 Kristine Braden steps back as president of the AFBS as she has been appointed chief of staff to Citi CEO Mike Corbat in New York.
